Mercy, Truth, Peace, and Righteousness

"Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other."
(Psalm 85:10)

When mercy and truth meet.
Mercy usually arrives after the truth has been discovered. Sometimes mercy shows up first to enable the discovery.

When righteousness and peace kiss.
Because of man’s fallen state, righteousness and peace will eventually war with each other.
The peace of fallen man is to be left alone with his sins. The light of righteousness destroys sin. Only the man who confesses and releases his sins to Jesus Christ can have peace. All others, no matter how righteous they may be, will continuously suffer the effects of this war.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27)
