Such An One As Thyself
Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg came to
mind when I read the following Psalm this morning. Buttigieg is a homosexual
who recently tried to use scripture to support and defend not only
homosexuality but abortion too.
“But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to
declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
Seeing thou hatest instruction, and casteth my words behind thee….These things
hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such
an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine
eyes.” (Psalm 50:16-17,21)
Mr. Buttigieg, I have a question for you. It’s the same one
God asked Job. “Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?”
(Job 38:2). Place yourself directly in the light of scripture and stop
darkening council with your words with no knowledge. Rarely does God react
immediately to sin. Do not misinterpret silence as agreement or endorsement.
God tends to walk away from those who sin and lets them sin. Why? Because sin
is a conscious, premeditated effort of the mind and will. You made the decision
to rebel then acted upon that decision. So God let you.
Read the following passage by Paul to the Romans. At least 3
times the reprobate knowingly goes against the will of God and at least 3 times
God “gave them up” because of it.
“Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as
God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their
foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became
fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like
to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.”
“Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the
lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature
more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”
“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for
even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in
their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and
receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even
as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a
reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with
all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full
of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of
God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to
parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection,
implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit
such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in
them that do them.” (Romans 1:21-32)
Wisdom within your own eyes is but self-loving vanity.
