Redeemer
“Let the redeemed of the Lord say
so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy” (Psalm 107:2)
Redeemed means restored. Brought
back to original condition. The Lord our redeemer is called, “Ga’al” in the
original Hebrew. A ga’al is a close relative. The Psalmist is telling us that
it is family, our Father, who makes restitution on our behalf. It’s important
to understand that it is restitution, a restoring back to our family condition
and order.
The enemy is always at hand. Peter
tells us to be sober and vigilant because the devil is like a roaring lion
looking for someone to devour, swallow up and destroy. (1 Peter 5:8). Being in God’s
presence will keep the enemy at bay. But if we happen to stumble and fall out of
the way, then we have the ultimate family member to restore us and get us back on
the righteous path.
Yes, I do believe that’s something
we need to talk about, don’t you? Let’s spread the good news, the gospel of
Jesus Christ! We have a Father that washes us clean and keeps us on the pathway
to glory!
