More Qualifiers (Continued)
“So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and
unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto
salvation” Hebrews 9:28).
Notice the Evangelist does not say “to bear the sins of all”,
but rather “to bear the sins of many”. Not everyone will be saved.
And who would that “many”, be? Simple, it is “…them that
look for him…”
Are you “looking” for Christ? What does that mean anyway, to
“look” for Christ?
To look is a process, an on-going and continuous process.
Expectation, waiting, hope, patience: “For the earnest
expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God….And
not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit,
even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the
redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not
hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that
we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.” (Romans 8:19, 23-25).
Wait and be confirmed: “So that ye come behind in no gift;
waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you
unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1
Corinthians 1:7-8).
“For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of
righteousness by faith” (Galatians 5:5).
“Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall
strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord” (Psalm 27:14).
“The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope
in him. The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh
him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation
of the Lord” (Lamentations 3:24-26).
Look, wait, and hope in the Lord, these are all part and
parcel of the ongoing process of salvation.
