Fall From Grace
Can you fall from grace? Yes.
“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you
are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace” (Galatians 5:4).
Too many think of salvation as a one-time event. You get
baptized and that’s it, it’s a done deal.
Salvation is a process, a relationship. It is the process of
faith which demands the weight of time. The relationship is through the Holy
Ghost, which quickens us to life and awakens us to Christ.
This is an ongoing process of love, growth in the Lord, understanding,
confession and repentance. It is a process of righteous renewal and holy gentrification.
Salvation is a forward progress towards the Lord in heart, spirit and soul. The
actions this produces are holy and righteous, leading us away from sin. This is
the effect of the process of salvation and relationship with Christ, but not
the cause of it.
“For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of
righteousness by faith” (Galatians 5:5).
Through the Spirit and by faith, not by the law or deeds, we
wait for the hope of righteousness.
The weight of the wait is the acid test of value. Not everyone
can tolerate it.
