Here are a couple of relevant verses from the pseudepigraphical
book, “The Story of Ahikar”.
“O my son! every sheep that wanders from its path and its
companions becomes food for the wolf.” (2:30)
Sin, from the Greek New Testament literally means to fall
out of the way. Anything other than the path of righteousness is the road to
Hell, making all susceptible to the adversary the devil who looks for whom he
can consume. (See 1 Peter 5:8)
“0 my son! thou hast been to me like the goat which joined
its comrades on their way to the sacrifice, and it was unable to save itself.”
(7:28)
The way of the wicked will lead the righteous astray (See Proverbs
12:26) and the companion of fools will suffer harm (See Proverbs 13:20).
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for
what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion
hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what
part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple
of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I
will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall
be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the
Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a
Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord
Almighty.
(2 Corinthians 6:14-18)
